Mocha’s & Menchie’s provide what I need…
Every Wednesday and Thursday I have the opportunity to obtain what I really need in my ministry life…TIME WITH KIDS! Wednesday’s are for High School as we have our weekly, “Mocha’s with Mark,” event. From 4pm-5pm we hang out at the Starbucks in Turkey Creek…no agenda…just laughter, story telling, and a chance to connect and encourage as we surpass the midway point of our weeks. I always find myself counting down the hours as I work in the office before it is time to hang with my young friends. Yesterday we had myself and Becca, Andrew Burroughs (college guy, former FFUMC youther, Liza Burroughs, Jordan Kirchner, Caroline Dyer, and Carly McGuire!). Sometimes we have 5 people, sometimes we have 12…but no matter who shows up one thing is for sure; the coffee will be tasty and the fellowship will be amazing!
Thursday afternoon is time for some MIDDLE SCHOOL fellowship at the frozen yogurt HOT SPOT in East Tennessee…MENCHIE’S! http://www.menchies.com/. Same time, same place, every single week. We have the same agenda as Mocha’s with Mark…NONE. This is a newer event and just as amazing as our weekly Mocha’s event! What could be better as the weekend approaches then taking a break from the crazy schedule of the week, all the homework and room cleaning, to hang out with your friends and your youth pastor with some frozen yogurt and incredible toppings? NOTHING! 4pm-5pm every Thursday at Menchie’s in Turkey Creek. Menchie’s with Mark is the final part of my work week as I try to protect Friday and Saturday as my days off. Nothing could kick-off my weekend better than time with my middle school friends. Hebrews 10:24-25 says, “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another, and all the more as you see the day approaching.”
So may you find the encouragement and the fellowship that you need in your life with Jesus Christ today…and may he bless you abundantly through the gift of relationships as we anxiously await his return! Have an AWESOME Thursday!
