Back to school…Back to school…
Knox County schools are back in session today as my youth bid FAREWELL to the summer of 2010 and welcome in the 10-11′ school year! Some are bouncing off the walls excited, some are apprehensive, and a couple of my freshman say they are just hoping to not get stuffed into a locker. Nonetheless, today holds a great oppportunity for them to shine the light of Christ! I hung with the HS kids on Sunday during the SS hour and we looked at Galatians 5:6b-10 which says, “The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love. You were running a good race. Who cut in on you and kept you from obeying the truth? That kind of persuasion does not come fromt he one who calls you. ‘A little yeast works through the whole batch of dough.’ I am confident in the Lord that you will take no other view. The one who is throwing you into confusion will pay the penalty, whoever he may be.”
Summer is comfortable, often supplying us our Christian bubbles of safety. I’m not saying that is always a bad thing…as Christians who are called to be salty sometimes we need to re-apply the saltiness to our hearts and our souls. The youth know that its time though. Its time to shine and to step back onto the battlefield. It is time to stand up for Jesus, to love like never before, and to be the salt of the earth! They know that there are pressures and people ready to cut in on their ‘RACE WELL RUN.’ They know that there are distractions ready to take their focus off of their personal relationships with Christ…and they are ready to KEEP THE FAITH. They know that the TRUTH has set them free. The hallways of the schools can be scary places. Please pray for young people all across the country today, specifically here in Knox County, as the hallways fill up and as classes begin!
Praying for you all today! Don’t be distracted fromt he plan God has from you! Have a fantastic Tuesday!
